TM 6800HD and PVR to external HDD not recognized

    Hi everyone!
I have a TM 6800HD not super/combo version. When I plug 16Gb USB stick - no problem with recognition, but when I tried external HDD (250Gb Seagate and 500Gb Freecom - both only USB powered) they are not recognized and PVR cannot be used then.
I have the latest 692 patched applied...
Could anyone help? Any suggestions to enable external HDD visibility?
    Thank you in advance!

The drive needs to be preprogmmed to work with this machine. try satelite superstore. they do a 1 tetrabyte drive with the neccessary programming at a good price

Have you formatted the external hard drive in fat32. Works best and make sure your hard drive is switched on before you boot your receiver.

Thank you for the reply, but is there any chance to install this programme on the drives I already have?

As I said in my initial message, both external HDD's are USB powered (i.e. 2.5' form - not 3.5') and yes, they are formatted.

            format drive

How to Format a USB HDD for Technomate HD Models
For all USB HDD’s more than 30GB:
DO NOT FORMAT THE HDD IN THE TM-6900 HD COMBO OR THE
            TM-6800 HD
            1. Connect the hard disc via USB to your PC
            2. Right click (with the mouse) on My Computer (found on the Desktop)
            3. Go to Manage
            4. Go to Disk Management
            5. Right click on the USB drive
            6. Click on Delete Partition and follow the procedures
            7. When this has finished, a new drive will appear. Select the drive with the largest file size and Right click on it.
            8. Go to Make a New Partition (it has to be Primary). Assign a drive letter, for example, f:
            9. Select: Do not Format this Partition and follow the procedures
            10. Right click on the USB drive and set the partition as Active
            11. Copy the attached fa**2format.exe file to your C: Drive, found in: My Computer > C:
            12. Go to Start > Run > enter CMD > OK
            13. Enter: cd c:\
            14. Enter: fa**2format f: (if you used f: in step 8, if not, enter the drive letter you used)
            15. The following message will appear: Warning ALL data on drive 'f' will be lost irretrievably, are you sure (y/n)
            16. Enter: y
            17. Wait until it says Done
            18. When this has finished, connect your USB drive to the Technomate TM-6900 HD COMBO or the TM-6800 HD
            19. Do not use the Management menu found in the USB Menu of the receiver
DO NOT FORMAT THE HDD IN THE TM-6900 HD COMBO OR THE
            TM-6800 HD

google search for fat32 format its free thats all you need no magic tools etc.

works XP/Vista and W7. Run it from a DOS prompt.

I only use a remotely powered HDD never tried a USB powered one. However it works fine one you format in FAT32 using the util.

I recon its its the USB powered bit thats causing you problems...
