you can have it on or off its up to you but when its switched on it will add any missing transponders using the nit (network information table). as a example say you had no transponders in the memory and then manually added the digitalb transponder 10.758.v.27500 and then did a scan with network search enabled it would then add all the transponders that digitalb uses on 16 east, hope this has explained it for you. regards mdt

Also,
you may only want to scan a single transponder, for new channels or changes, in which case you wouldn't use this feature. Otherwise depending on you stb, you would fill up its memory with duplicate channels.

i have just downloaded a channel list that was made 6monthes ago. what scan would be best to up date the channel without filling my stb up with dead TP's
