    TM600

The TM 600 has an ethernet connection and is one of the cheapest SD linux boxes on the market. If you must go HD then the Dreambox 800HD or the TM800 (once the bugs have been removed) would be also a good choice. There are loads of good HD boxes available ~ The Vu plus Duo, Qbox HD, Spiderbox etc etc. A 90cm motorised dish, broadband, satellites from 28 east to 30 west plus cs and you have a future proof system.
Setting up a linux based box with a motorised dish is not an easy task, but the effort is well worth it. The guys on this forum and reading the stickies will help ! best of luck

The tm600 indeed does have a ethernet connection. The main advantage to it is the ability to add a hard drive internally.

However you will also need a sata to usb converter and a molex to sata power cable to add a hdd internally :

So for around ?85 you get a decent box with good pic and sound.

However if you want a HD box for ?200ish you get a dm800 clone and for a little short of ?400 you can have a VU+.

My advice is to read through the sat sections and see what others have already said about linux stb's. you have to decide what you want and what fits that purpose.

As hypersonic says ... now is probably not the best time to buy a tm800 hd as it still has some bugs to work out and not its features can be used yet.

      Best of luck @manx

Straight forward usb hdd works fine in TM600. There are 3 usb's, The front one is good for upto 16gb, the rear and internal work fine on larger hdd. I have had 320gb working fine.

Yep ... sorry should have been clearer usb works fine, its the neat thing for us ... internal hdd means less on show, which keeps mrs manx happy.
