TM5400 CI+ USB signal quality

Hi All,

I have a bit of a strange one. I installed my system about 4 months ago and it has been working fine. It is still working okay, but I had a bit of a blocky picture when watching Nova Sports on thor - so I started playing about with the settings. Now when I go to the motorized settings on any sat I don't get any quality reading other than the standard 22% - although I am still picking up the satellites.

Today, I got fed up, so I did a complete factory reset, then began setup using USALS working first on Thor. Although, I do not seem to be picking up as many channels as I previously would have done. I am doing a complete auto nav. as I type, so I will then review the results.

Any ideas why I do not get any quality readind, even though I am picking up the sat and stations? I really don't think that my dish has moved.

If you do a Factory Reset I think you will loose your Latitude and Longitude settings. These are absolutely necessary if you have a motorised set-up. i had similar problems in the past with USALS where bye the dish would move slightly away from the required sat. for my location I use 0.8'E /51.1N which work for my location. You will, I think have to enter the correct location for you setup or else use DISeq 1.2 and fine tune each satellite which takes forever....

if you go to say 1W by usals then in the motorised settings menu change to 1.2 you can then drop down to the "move fine line" and nudge the dish E/W to get the highest quality reading you can.If you cant improve it your dish may have drooped a bit and need the elavation re setting.but as you have lost some channels completely it does sound like an alignment problem.
the other way is to stay on usals and adjust you longitide setting East or West by 0.2 degrees at a time to fine tune it.

Cheers Plessy, I have re-entered my lat and long settings, before carrying out an auto navigation.

Dick b - even if I go on Astra, by far the strongest signal, I am getting a 97% quality on the OSD. But then when I go into the motorized settings through the menu, it is showing 22% as it does with everything? That's what's confusing me - it's as if a setting has been changed. I think I will check the dish, but I do seem to be picking up everything I always have now.

A bit more info - on Thor I am getting a 92% signal on BBC world and a 55% (after pos adjustment) on Nova Sport - this appears normal to me.
I only pick up 1 channel on 16E, and when I search on the TringTV TP, I get nothing.
28.5E still running at 97% strength and quality, which leads me to think that the belt path is okay??

Any expert diagnosis?

I cant pick up tring on my TM but my spiderbox picks it ok I dont think the tuner on the TM is sensitve enough.

you should be getting tring m8 as it is very strong txp. i find that the other txp,s are alot weaker. regards mdt

Normally when I would cycle through the TPs, I would get the different signal readings, but at the minute I am not getting any variation to the 22% on ANY bird or TP (using the motorised settings menu).

we need more information m8. which reciever?, what size dish?, fixed or motorised? which patch are you using. start your own thread entitled "need help please" and you should get some help. regards mdt

yeah, it was me not following my own advice I"ve got the tm1000d on a different motor to the spider box and it just needed a nudge to bring it in(cant watch it on that box anyway as encrypted) thanks for pushing me to sort it.

Lost signal on same unit 3 days ago moved dish to gain a better signal which worked except some sats wont tune
