a guide for seting up a brand new TM600 linux

i need set a brand new linux technomate tm600 and need to hook it up 2 network via router, is there any kind of help guide thanks in advance

Its the same a setting up a dreambox.

1) go to DynDNS.com - Free Domain Name, Managed DNS, Email Services and create a free account.
enter the account name ect into your router on your routerss config page. (look in advanced settings > Dynamic DNS.) This gives your box a static ip.

On your tm600 remote press LAN > BLUE BUTTON

You are now on the communication set up page.

Uncheck DHCP (auto config has never worked for me on a tm600.

Enter a ip like 192.168.0.8 (the last number can be any thing you like, as long as it is different to any other device on your network.

the other info needed can be found in your routers setup page :

ie : subnet mask ... gateway ect.

Enter all the info and save. At this point i turn the box off and back on ... press lan and blue button again. press to update firmware ... if connected to the internet you will see the latest firmware available.

This all depends on you having replaced the factory img with the UR img.

Ps you will need to log into your Dydns account once a month to keep it active or download the update client http://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/windows.html
to do it for you. ( thanks to the people who reminded me of this point ... you know who you are )

manual settings up

can i also do manual setting for my router pc and the box and the after create that account for update. will i have install the UR image if its brand box with factory image. and alos i need help setting up that dns account, never created one b4

You will need to install the UR img ... the factory img is for free to air only.

As for setting up the dyndns account ... just follow the instructions for setting up a free account ... it's that easy, i had never done 1 before, it's not that hard to work out. This really needs to be your 1st step.

Just to start with the obvious.
make sure your receiver is connected to your router with a lan/ethernet cable.

Get the ip address of the receiver by pressing the lan button and entered this into the Technomate control centre this connects you to the receiver and then update the img to the latest UR one.

Lo m8 using that method has never worked for me, so the way i have shown is to input a ip manually. How ever forgot to add the easiest way to update the img is by usb.

giving me this error...... Please enter valid hostname label to add new hostname (2-24 characters)

and .....Please enter a valid IP address (optional for Offline hostnames).

Just type in 'whats my ip' into your web browser.

If you had started a new thread, this would have been answered a lot faster.
