Don't think he is breaking any rules with what he is asking.
Its the same as setting up a dream box ....
Step 1 ... Go here and make a account for free DynDNS.com - Free Domain Name, Managed DNS, Email Services
Make a note of 1) the account name ie : [email protected]
2) you user name
3) your password
Enter your routers config page .... (put your ip address into the http:// part of your web browser) you should now have a little box asking you for a password ... ie the default for a netgear router is :
name = admin
password = password
you shoud now be in your routers config page
This is where you get the info to put in your dreambox's communication setup ...
your ip address should read like this ... 192.168.0.10 ... the last number needs to be different to anything else connected to your router. subnet and gateway use from the router config page.
So far So good
Next look for a part in your router config page that says ... Dynamic DNS ... or something very similar.
Tick the box that says Use a Dynamic DNS Service and enter the host name , user name and pass word you saved when you created a account at DynDNS.com - Free Domain Name, Managed DNS, Email Services.
Click apply.
Once you have entered the info in the dreambox press save and restart your box. restart your router as well.
you should now have a dreambox that is connected to the internet and you now have a static ip
As for upgrading the img ... download a UR img this is not the latest but should work

unzip it put the img on a usb stick and plug it into your box
upgrade via box menu .... manual update.
