    Have I got this right?

    Hi,

I have a cheap Philex B&Q system that I set up last year. It works fine and I get all of the FTA stuff with no problem.

I'm looking to replace the receiver with a TM600. Am I right in thinking that it will just be a drop in replacement for the Philex box and will not need anything special to receive the FTA channels, just a bit if basic setting up? The networking and Linux side of things is no problem for me, the very fact the TM runs Linux is very appealing.

Once I've got the FTA channels working I'm hoping to start looking in to the other things the box is capable of. At the moment all the CS and CCam stuff is a bit confusing, perhaps it will become clearer when I have the TM....

    TIA

Thanks, that's good, it shows I've taken something in from all the reading I've been doing on the forum!

Motorised dish sounds like something for the future along with CS, etc.

One thing that I have thought of regarding motorised dishes is how the signal gets to the motor. I take it there is a seperate cable, or does it somehow use the coax for the LNB?

There's one hell of a lot to learn in this game.

Ah, very easy to add at a later date then. Just googled about installation and it doesn't look any harder than setting up the dish first time round.
