    Up and running!

Had my TM600 delivered yesterday so I spent some time yesterday evening getting it to work with my B&Q Philex setp. I disconnected the Philex receiver and connected the TM in its place and turned on.

I found it very easy to set up and replicate what I had with the Philex box. It missed a few channels with the autoscan but it is very easy to rescan a transponder and they then got picked up OK. The TM is so much nicer to use than the the Philex box, much more polished. Not got it on my broadband yet but that is only because I have not sorted out where to run the cable.

I've still only the FTA stuff as I can't afford to replace the dish/LNB yet. This brings me to my questions...

When I come round to replacing the dish what sort of size should I be looking at? Not sure of the size I have at the moment but it is not very large (60cm?), and oval in shape if that makes any difference.

How about a motor too, any makes to be avoided?

Can I reuse my current LNB or will it need changing?

Any input is very much welcomed.

    Simon.

dish size depends to a point on where you live,I live near the humber and having used various sizes up to 1mt I"ve settled on a gibertini 85cm on a technomate motor for use on the front of my house.I get all the main sats from 42E to 30W no probs.but I would not go smaller than 80cm on a motorised setup.if the lnb has std 40mm neck you can reuse it but I would not bother, fit a new one any single universal lnb will do the job it does not need to be a dear one.the lnb you have now can then stay with the B&Q dish.I"ve only ever used Technomate motors so cant comment on others but the TMs have never been any trouble and ones been in use every day for about 4yrs now.

my personal opinion would be to choose the stab h-h100 motor, gibertini 1m dish and smart titanium lnb. regards mdt

Thanks for the replies, all helpful.

        Just thought of another question.

When you load a different image on to the TM does it wipe all of your settings, satellite, channels etc so you start from scratch again? I am guessing it will....

I guess this must be answered eleswhere and I've overlooked it.

Okay, I get the hint, I'll keep searching...

          EDIT

Well I couldn't find an answer anywhere so I made up a CAT5 cable this evening and hooked it up to my broadband router. Network setup on DHCP and it picked up an address no problem. I got the box to download the latest image and it kept all of its setting, although the menu skin has changed.

          Result!!
