hi,i hope anyone can help as am getting nowhere with other forums(not on here) i have a tm-5200 on motorised dish installed by pros, recently we lost a few channels screen says no audio/video or bad signal,so i did reset and then scanned sats again no joy,i then did restore channels scanned astra or hotbird can't remember but one of these is where the main channels that have vanished are on,the missing channels came back, however as soon as i switched menu they went again,on some other advice was told to check TP,so started with thor as suggested TP was wrong set on 1 settings i was given should be on 12,however no settings are saving and all sats default to 1,so as main theorys i'm getting is channel frequencies up spout and as i can't get TP settings to save seems pointless to me trying to retune each missing channel, now as engineers where i live won't touch motorised even though only a box issue and the ones who will know they can charge what they like ie over 100 quid,i am wondering if getting a new box that is easier to run and set up will rectify my problem,as having been directed to lynsat or whatever its called really looks like to much for me to figure out anyway,I'm not thick but all getting to fiddly now,and was looking at specs on TM-3000 and looks like a better box for easier installation, also i was recommended by installers on this set-up for what we needed,as had people having a go for having this set-up,so if anyone thinks new receiver better way to go,or an easy solution to rectify on current one I await in hope,TY in advance.

hello mate,we will try and help.but there is a lot of info to take in at one go as no sat box is plug&play.
the TM 5000 series boxes are one of the most user friendly around so I"d stick with it for now til you understand sat a bit more.
in the menus the TPs will always go to the default setting and the no1 tp may or may not be active.you can scroll for an active tp on the second line but if you exit it will go back to the default.
there has been a lot of high winds lately and its possible your dish may be slightly out.so send dish to 1West (thor) then menu>installation>motorised setting. in the transponder line scroll through til you find 11.325(H)/24.500 this is a BBC world TP.the level and quality bars at the bottom should be in the mid 80s.if this is not so it sounds like your dish may need re-aligning,but if its only slight you can try just resetting in box like this.
if you are on DISEQC 1.2 in the 3rd line drop down to the move fine line and nudge the dish east/west til you get max reading in the quality bar. then drop down to save>ok.then press the red button on the handset to scan.you will have to repeat this for all sats.
if you are on USALS in the 3rd line drop down to the position setting line>ok then drop to antenna longtitude and alter the setting by 0.2 degrees at a time east or west until max quality signal is obtained this will not show at once (you will have to exit to full screen each time for the changes to take effect)then return to the motorised setting menu, once done you will not have to do this for other sats as on usals this will be automatic.but you may need to re-scan each sat.hope this helps and I"ve also sent a motor setup guide if needed.
if any thing is unclear just ask.Last edited by dick b; 16 February, 2011, 16:26. -
