    Newbie - TM3000D

Hi all, i have just purchased a TM3000D (spur of moment purchase while away caravanning), apart from the fact of paying way over the top for the unit the setup with the dish is great. I can unpack the unit and have the dish pointing in the correct direction and alignment within a few minutes.
The downside is the EPG - missing data as well as an annoying way of selecting a channel, i am a Sky user at home so i am used to the remote control and choosing channels, but this seems very slow with multiple button pushing to try and select channels
Is there a quicker way ???
On another note, if i decided to go down the route of recording channels to disk (don't need record 1 while watching another) which would be a good model to look at in more detail

I don't have one of these but tm's are normaly very user friendly can you confirm if you have the latest firmware this should be 12/01/11
sometimes the basic firmware makes it hard to use allright
you will find your firmware here Download center put on usb and goto data transfer and load patch let us know if it's easier to use after that do'nt forget to backup channel list and do your factory reset .
if you would like to record the tm6902 combo hd super is a great box fast and simpel to use.(not the cheapest but good)

          channel selection

burgo.as thijs has said the technomate std boxes are the most user friendly boxes there are but the epg will never match skys.
the easiest way to channel select is to press>ok scroll to the channel you want on the drop down and press ok twice or simply key in the channel number while on full screen.never bother recording so cant advise on that plenty who can on here though.

Thank you all for your comments
I will double check firmware and have a go at the channel select.
My problem is I can not try at home at present and so have to wait a few weeks.
                  Many thanks for everyones posts
