Using TCC to recover FTP pass

Hi I have a TM600 not my own but a mates , I dont want to flash a new image on it but I cannot update a cline for him as the FTP pass is not the usual root combo. I have read that you can use TCC to change the FTP pass , can I still do it if I do not know the current pass ? If so helo much appreciated.

have you tried leaving it blank? if so you can telnet into the box and change the password. press, start/run then type cmd and press enter. now type "passwd" and now enter your new chosen password twice. regards mdt

OK so just telnet via ip from command prompt , or via null modem using hyperterminal etc ?
Is it telnet to ip address then use the passwd command once you get in ?

I have tried everything I could think off using DCC .

have you tried changing the password on the box then telnet after that. I seem to recall i had a similar issue and that worked for me

O KI telnetted to the box and still no joy as I cannot get passed the username and pass variations of ROOT , Blank , technomate , dreambox etc. I instaleld and tried running TCC 7 and when I follow the instruction to reset the password I an getting password not allowed so I do need the origional password.

If I do a factory reset from the enigma image where will that leave me ?

Is my next be to reinstall a new image ? can I use dreamup for this or can I use TCC ?
Any suggestions on the best image ?

i use dcc to login to my tm600 m8 and it works great. if the password hasnt been changed from new then it should be root/ leave blank. if it has been changed or whatever then do a factory reset and then telnet in to reset the password. have you tried tm600 as the pword? regards mdt
