Im new to the VU box after having a dreambox dm500 and f3 boxes so could i ask a daft question, , if I connect the 2 cables from my sly satellite quad lmb to the 2 tuner inputs on the vu+duo, I can record one channel and watch another. I am in progress of buying a vu box so I want to get everything right before I take the plunge :-)

Cactikid haven't bought It yet, downloaded the manual so just thumbing through that at the mo, can you recommend a place to buy ?

Price should be around ?239 for an original available from most online retailers such as Goldwafers, World of sat, Red Apple Digital etc...

If the box has pli image on it is the set up regarding var/ect Ccfg the same as setting up the DM500, also is everything done via ftp or can you just stick images and other downloads on a usb stick and the box will read them via a download menu like the F3. Is the box Mrs and kids freindly i.e. easy to navigate

When you purchase a pre-flashed Duo i highly doubt that the shop in question would load Cams in the image i would imagine it will be default and you will have to load your own, as you are coming from a DM500 then your 90% there its just the folders are in different places so instaed of /var/etc for your .cfg file it is now just /etc and so on. But yes you FTP/Telnet the same as you would on any enigma1 machine.

You cant compare something like the Duo to an F3 receiver its the equivalent of comparing a Rolls Royce to a Reliant Robin

Looking forward to getting the box now. One last question regarding images, I have used pli only so I am use to that image but in your honest opinion what would you say the best image is for the duo? I have read that the vix image is similar to the sly lay out(epg)

Image preference again is entirely up to yourself as with any image there are pro's and con's with all of them but Vix does seem to be the most popular and its layout is based very closely on PLI
