The only difference about the setup between the VU and the Dreambox is the flashing procedure, Vu are upgraded via USB Stick for image firmware where as the Dreambox are upgraded via Ethernet.

Everything else FTP/Telnet are identical including the folder structure layout

then you can record and view anouther channel
or do what i do i have tuner B set on a static mini dish
and tuner A set on my motorised dish plus if i wish
i can record on the static dish and watch any chn or sat
from the motorised dish. and compared to dreambox the vu
wins hands down on every point, and my personnel view is
go for the solo2 it's a ?150 or so cheaper and just as good
but you dont get a very expensive lcd screen on a solo2 for
me that's more flashy than use to most users. the duo2 probably
has something that the solo2 does'nt but is it worth the extra cash
i cant fault the solo2 it's first class, but as always the choice is yours

Monkeys, you would be pleasantly surprised with a VU Duo2 after using the DM800HD. The operation is similar to the 800 but is so much faster. A full reboot on my Duo2 takes about 20 seconds as opposed to my 800 which took about 5 minutes.

The major differences are; the image install is via a usb stick ( very easy indeed ); you need to configure the two tuners to suit your installation rather than just one.

All other operations are very similar to the 800 but in my opinion, very much better.

The Same can be said for the Vu Duo2 at a price tag of ?450 in this economic climate it was a bold move by VU to release it at the price, It never sold out like some of the forecasters mentioned it would

                    Hi benny,

It runs a more modern chipset than what the solo2 does although it still employs the same dual core 1300mhz processor.

The tuners are silicone based and not soldered to the board as in the Solo2 which means the Solo2 has to do a lot more on the CPU front to control and run software for the tuners

It has more ram and Flash space than the solo2 and as well as what you mentioned Pluggable tuners and the VFD display

is it worth another ?150 more probably not especially for just casual satellite viewing
