Try unplugging the HDD and see if it then boots? I've read a few reports of the PSU being weak which meant that when a 3.5" HDD was installed the box wouldn't boot.

The answer for these people was to use a laptop HDD which draws less power.

Oh right, understood. Is there ribbon connector or some other connector? May it's become dislodged when fitting the HDD?

Did you not get any screws with the box? I've not got a vu+ duo but from the pics it does look like the drive gets screwed in, possibly with the screws going in from underneath the box.

if you have a clone it is likely that the connections for the VFD are loose or not connected, this is a very common problem. as for the HDD cradle you should have 4 screws with rubber bushes, to fix the hdd to the cradle.

Vacum Fluorescent Display as in the front display that you say is not showing information any more, There is a ribbon cable that attaches the VFD to the main board just check this as it could have become dislodged when fitting the hard drive.

As for the hard drive i assume you unscrewed the four screws that hold the caddy into place on the main chassis, You should also have got a small bag of 4 screws to attach the hard drive to the caddy. Once fitted you screw the caddy back to the main chassis.
