That fan spins faster and is also noisier and it has sleeve bearings so may turn even noisier after a bit of dust gets to it.
No idea if the fractal mentioned in the other thread has ball bearings but some sites suggest that it does, spins at a lower speed and is much quieter.
Didn't somebody in the other thread respond about this? The 3 pin connector can easily be removed from the new fan and replaced with the 2 pin from the current fan.
Here's a vid on how to remove the connector [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUUxt6GBV6A]How To: Remove/Install 3-Pin Fan Connectors - YouTube[/ame]
No probs, you don't need that 3 pronged tool that the guy uses in the vid, a very small screwdriver or even the end of a paper clip would do, the 3 pronged tool just means that you can take all 3 cables out at the same time, using a small screwdriver or paper clip would mean you'd need to take 1 cable out at a time.
Before you pull the connector off make sure you make a note of how the cables were on the new and the old fan. Also when you pull the cable out you'll notice on the cable that there's a small tab, you might need to slightly lift that back up to ensure that when you put the cables back into the 2 pin connector the cables lock in place securely.
Difficult to explain but when you start you'll hopefully see what I'm talking about.
now problem , it works fine but i have to bump start it , it needs to start it by hand , it trys to start but look like theres not a nuff power , I used the red and black wires only in the 2 pin connector, any advice guys?
If the box is one of the first then there was a mod for it change a resistor on the motherboard to resolve this issue, you can find it over on the Ferrari forums.
If you look directly under the fan header on the motherboard, there are 4 small components with the 3rd from the left missing. The 2nd from the left, can you check what numbers it has, some of the early batches had a 220 Ohm resistor soldered there, later batches have a 100 Ohm which effectively is the fix.
The other thing to try is unscrew the fan completely and then check if it starts up, if it does then when mounted something is obstructing it.
Mine worked 1st time but there is very little clearance between the pcb and the fan just make sure it isn't fouling, also I used the screws that came with the fan and the fan label goes towards the outside of the box.
thanks mate , tryed it out of the box as-well no good , I'm trying to get a refund for the box now as iv had to many problems TBH , will look at a VI uno original
