Vu+ Duo is it really suitable for me

    Lo,

Some of you will have seen the fun I have had with my HongKong sourced Vu+ Duo clone.

Like others I have been hit with fundamental technical issues with this box, which in my case has got to the point where the box has to return from whence it came.

Fortunately Paypal, bless their cotton socks, have unexpectedly reduced the pain a little by providing ?25 payment towards the shipping costs.

So my next purchase becomes a possibility.

My question is one of - Vu+ or not Vu+ ???

I am linking this kit to a motorised dish (TM-2600 motor).
For the 24hrs my current pile of sh*te was actually functioning I noticed that it struggled to move the motor.
When I asked others on this forum I was told that this was not unusual, and that even original (non-clone) units had the same issue.
Bearing in mind I want this option, is the Vu+ Duo (original, or clone) the best option for me, or do I need to speak to the Dreambox fanboys?

Yes, Had a look at that a while ago, and price wise its there with the Vu+ Duo

So as its Technomate - as is my motor, is there a better chance it can successfully drive it??

You could always go for an original Duo, they are on Amazon.de for 299 euros.

Having had my box, which isn't on a motor by the way, I'm actually now beginning to like it. My son has been playing around with it and has set up recordings during the day and night and so far it's worked with no probs, even when the wife starts using it as she always manages to mess things up

Yes, I was looking for an orig this time (Vu+ or techno) - having had a number of fingers burnt here.
So its either WoS or the german option for VU+.

Did not know you could order from Amazon.de if UK based. Thought that would be an issue - i.e it would force you to use to use amazon.co.uk.

RuberDuck posted this link in prev thread.

So another option here, albeit I don't know what their delivery costs are.

(You've probably realised by now that I don't like going down the easy route )

@RuberDuck - on that other thread, you mention a "Sh*t load" of reputable German retailers. Do you have other examples?

I posted about the Amazon.de prices, asking if at that price they'd be clones or originals and I think RuberDuck responded saying that it would be an original and that is the the price they sell for over there.

I've ordered from Amazon.de before, albiet for books and not electronic hardware but I can't see there would be any problems, biggest problem you'll have is deciphering the German checkout page

EDIT: Found the thread and it was RuberDuck who replied http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ontrol-274953/ even then I still went for a clone, just call me tight as a ducks arse from now on

i think the duo2 will kill the ultimo which imo is a vu uno with 3 tuners and a big screen on the front... regards mdt

my vu+duo clone, has never had problems moving the dish, and the dish is at the bottom end of my garden, about 100 foot away from the reciever.

I can wait a little while. I have my orig cheap'as'chips Ross box to view and drive the motor/dish.
I still have to get this temporary doorstop shipped back from whence it came, then get my cash back via Paypal, so in no desperate hurry.
So its a valid question - when are the new units out, as I'm happy to wait a while if the prices of the current stock (Duo or Ultimo) is likely to go down

If your talking about the new Solo2 and Duo2 i would imagine around December maybe early January next year the same as what they did with the ultimo announced it then took nearly 7 months to release it.

You never know though it could be earlier but i doubt it.
