    New Installation of Vu+Duo & Technomate TM-2300

    Hi Folks,

Well, I took the plunge and decided to install today the above system myself but unfortunately I have failed miserably...

After bolting the mounting pole to my wall, I was pretty impressed with myself as I had it perfectly level, good start I thought....

Prior to installation, I constructed the motor, brackets and LNB inside the house, as far as I am aware, I have correctly set the Elevation / Latitude Scale to 53 here in Liverpool.

I know the Vu+Duo is not a clone and is working as I tested last week by using my current Sky HD leads and I also purchased it from a reliable outlet.

The receiver has been flashed with VIX as I recall witnessing a few channels, mainly Indian and some crazy body building channel.

Well, I cannot even get the motor manual button to work to check the drive East to West, I even tried plugging in all F Connections but still nothing...

I have followed the idiots guide as I am a competent DIY & Computer Techy nerd but even the guide did nothing for me !

Please folks, where am I going wrong as its driving me crazy and making me ill, my legs are killing me due to the amount of times I went up & down the ladder.

I took a couple of pictures just in case some expert can sort me out.

The dish is pointing due South, the same as all the neighbours Sky Dishes and I have also done everything that was displaying on SatLex Digital :: Technology :: Calculators :: AZ/EL Calculator when I put my details in.

Need help folks please ASAP !!!

    Cheers,

    Pau

If you are unsure about the motor working correctly and to save trips up and down the ladders connect a small piece of coaxial cable to the back of the duo either tuner a or b does not matter and try the motor there first with the east/west button, If that is working then its something else in your current setup.

Finally given up and declared that I need a professional...

Totally gutted as I tried my best, I thought I had done all the hard work by erecting the dish & motor.

Anybody know a decent installer / aligner within the North-West / Merseyside ?

Are you using a meter to align the dish on a Satellite?
If you require help, you need to give more detail.

Got a new meter today as the one I was trying to use was not working I think...

Alec, what more details do you require ?

I have even tried several iPhone Apps such as Dish Align, iSat, Ka-Sat Finder, Satfinder, and DP AR Pro.

LNB is facing South to start and I move it east & west to locate a satellite. I have been using the SatFinder icon on my receiver but each time I scan , I get nothing... I am awre the Vu+ Duo Receiver is working as when I had it wired up to my Sky lead, I got several channels.

I aint a numpty but I have tried the idiots guides which have proved no good !!!

This is exactly the problem I've been having with mine. The dish moves with the motor and I am showing as picking up satellites. Unfortunately when I scan for channels on those satellites, I get nothing, despite a sat finder telling me I have a strong signal.

There must be a basic thing that all of us on here are doing wrong, as there's a few of us on here seem to be having this problem.

Have you also entertained the possibility that even though you have a strong signal that you are pointing at the wrong satellite, even when you scan the TP may be picked up but the scan also looks at the SR and the V & A Pids if thses do not match you wont scan anything in at all

Make SURE that the mounting pole is vertical.... Then I would first move the motor to a known sat... Say sky, then move JUST the dish to the correct sat (physically -not with the motor) ... I would hook up a sky box, or freesat box... Or take your receiver to a mate or neighbours with a fixed sky dish and scan in sky channels there before you faff with your dish.
Be aware that the sats are stacked very closely... Moving the dish so the lnb shifts 2 or 3 inches will move you to a new satellite!
Once you've found sky... The rest should fall into place.

If your pole is 100% plumb, face dish south then turn motor to BBC world news onThor 0.8W. Then move the dish up and down and slightly left and right very slowly to try and lock on.

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Sky dishes don't point south they point East. Get a compass and start again.
