Some german sites have them for preorder at ?399, release on the 1st october. They look really good. I'm wondering whether I should wait for duo2 or get a gigablue quad.

before i spend on the new vu duo version
i want to see some test results and if the tuners
havn't been up rated then i see no point in buying
the new version if i cant get better results, but
as a linux box for me the duo it first class and puts
my dreambox to shame for quality and images etc
but the tuners lets it down with the weaker tp's
and satellites and on sats like 7w i can get 20% more signal
with a old tm box and it even opens chns that the vu duo doesn'tPlease Read Carefully!

It's not mid November yet is it ?
as for the microcode that has to be supplied directly from the broadcom chip manufacturers, it's not something your going to find on the net and if you did it would be of absolutely no use to you what so ever.Comment

Confused...
Sorry, you are right... i thought it was already mid november... I will wait then... (shame)Comment

I've just seen an email from Vu+ quoted on a german site saying the duo2 will be released in December.
It started off as september/october, then changed to November, now it's December!
At this rate they'll have noone to buy the duo2 as we'll all get fed up of waiting and get a gigablue quad instead.Comment

There has never been any official release date for the duo and solo 2 models prior to that email, all ETA's on the release have been speculation on our part so you cant exactly blame Vu for that.I've just seen an email from Vu+ quoted on a german site saying the duo2 will be released in December.

They did answer the question on their very poorly run facebook fanpage.
someone asked the question and they replied with november.
I for one can't see the benefit of annoucing and releasing specs of the new models 6 months prior to releasing them.
People are bound to get impatient.Comment

They did the exact same with the Ultimo it was announced at the same show and details came through around an october release date, Eventually we got it late christmas early january this year. They did answer the question on their very poorly run facebook fanpage.

I believe its called marketing strategy apple do it every year.

Risky strategy though when there is already a new multi tuner reciever out there, in the gigablue quad.
If they sort there teething problems out soon that's what I'll be getting.
Can't see the Duo2 being anywhere near the price of the Quad anyway.Comment

nearly every manufacturer does the same thing on new products announces it then takes an age to get it released, I would imagine VU+ have wet enough appetites for buyers for the first batch anyway.
Before you decide weigh up the specs of each but at a quick glance the Duo2 is better specced overall and personally i would like a machine that can run the Blackhole image rather than one that cannot, but then again each to there own.

I prefer they release something a few months late as long as it is fully functional as advertised.
no point advertising like gigablue did, but then having problems with PQ and multiple tuners. Also the gigabit Ethernet port?
It looks like most the current teams supporting the duo will also support both the duo2 and gigablue quad. so image wise, they should both be supported well.Comment
