Returning clone to china - Help

I have to get a broken clone back to the manufacturer in China. Reading up on some of the websites like DHL, I may have to get some documentation or pay import duty for this. One site (transplobal express IIRC) mentions a 10 digit code, and contact the embassy???

    Anyone come across this?

When I have posted boxes back to china before, I just strip out the mainboard package it and send it via the post office (parcelforce)

This is how most factories request you send it back, also this way it saves you a small fortune as the duo is large and heavy it costs quite abit to send back.

all you have to do is sign an small decloration / value of item when doing this, you do not have to pay any other fees or supply anything else, however again factories usually ask you to value the item lower than it should be as they have to pay duty when they receive it.

Can I ask what is wrong with your duo?

He's returning the Duo for a refund as far as I know so most probably will have to return the the entire unit.

Meggie, can't you put item is an RMA item for repair? This should value the item as nil for duty, all you then need to do is make sure it has appropriate insurance in case it gets lost.

Yes, its going back - and for the reason you link to - and because its a Paypal claim I have to send it all back unfortunately.

I can and will put that this is a warranty claim/RMA mate, (not that I have a RMA number as its Paypal claim - but whatever), but from what I have read on some of the customs advise websites this makes not one jot of difference to Chinese customs.

As they sent me a replacement PSU, in an attempt to fix my issue, I am toying with whether it return that also. If I do then the weight goes up and so does the shipping costs.

I see you soldered a capacitor to the board, doesn't this VOID your warranty m8?

I wouldn't like you to pay to ship the thing to china to be told the warranty is void and then they make you pay to have it shipped back to you again.

I know you said you would put the other back again but it's gonna be noticeable.

            Just a thought.

If he's a dab hand at soldering which I believe he is then it won't be noticeable.

Tough call on the PSU, if Paypal have asked for the original purchase item to be returned then that includes the original faulty PSU but the supplier could then bleat about the fact they did send you out a replacement and demand it back but in all honesty I don't think they'll bother.

Don't worry mate - its standard
Same fail mode on power up.

Really will be a shame to give up on this unit as I've thrown lots of hours at it.

I'm actually shocked as to how much it costs to ship the box back, might be cheaper to take it there yourself, at least you can then get a holiday out of it.

I've seen people saying that shipping the main board back cost around ?40 so can you not agree with the supplier that you'll ship the main board back? That does sound like a stupid suggestion given that you want a refund but spunking close to 100 notes on postage is just plain ridiculous.
