I gonna rephrase the post i put up yesterday.

I have a lot of video files on my laptop that needs converting to i assume avi, in order to get them to play via mem stk on my vu+duo. Can any of you guys tell me how to go about this? I doubt its as easy as putting them on a mem stk n playing them. Thanks in advance for replies.

you cant use software codecs for media player support
          its all handled via hardware.

I think he means the media streams are decoded by hardware, since the main CPU isn't powerful enough to do it in software in real time. So any addon software will need to support HW decoding. I know VLC can do this on linux (& windows) PCs but not sure about E2 sat boxes since new to them myself
