    Jargon explained please?

My new vu+ box will shortly be with me I have been reading through forum to try and get up to speed but a little confused! Was wondering if there a newbie help file explaining all the various terms etc that are being used like image etc!

    Thanks.

First of all will your vu duo be a clone or original? If clone what version and what image has it arrived with? Also if it has image already on do you watch it and learn or start to mess it up straight away? Lots of reading ahead.

Well very useful post that was i believe my box will be original from Germany! I am hoping to go to menu Tspanel then to Linux add ons then to ccam v2.2.1 vix.ipx install that and restart.

      How's that sound?

Hi it sounds like you still have more reading to do and questions to be asked but you'll get there. What you have written above is not correct. Wait to see what box is and what image it has arrived with. You usually ftp tspanel via vucc or dcc and all cams are for specific images so you will have to have the correct one for the image. If you have genuine box you can have latest images [Not that they are much different from older versions] Flashed via usb but only if you have latest bootloader. Pick the wrong file and flash it incorrectly and you will have an expensive doorstop. This is only getting you started there's a lot more. hth

did you get a small rs232 board with 9 pin connectors with it?
also iv'e had both clone and original and they both looked
the same apart from a small white sticker on the top of the
                case on the clone.

"version vu plus experimental" ?, If it's an original it ships with the original Vu free to air image m8, unless you specified an image to be preloaded onto it before it was shipped.
Oh and don't be so rude, ta !

If it has the Vu Original image there is a plugin you can use on it to check serial etc, if you take the lid of it, have a look at the power supply, see if the wires that are connected to the on/off switch are black and white ? if so it's real :-), have a look at the power supply, if you see rust anywhere it's a clone :-), just a few quick checks for you to do.
