How to tell Vu+ if ferrari factory or not.

Many people tell me they have issure about Vu+ receiver in red light stuck and about genuine images. The reason is in the chip. The bad clone Vu+ receiver is not with Ferrari chip.
"Ferrari" version Vu+ receiver has full FLASH IC control thanks to build in EJTAG interface on-board and clever software support. Before you buy Vu+, you need ensure it's Ferrari version.

Ferrari or not, Vu+ clones are rubbish!
I've had a version 1 clone, a version 2 clone, a blown psu and all have not been a patch on an original.
If you want a vu+ duo, go original!

I went on the Ferrari forum seeking help as my clone wouldn't drive my motor and got no help at all.
They also said they'd have the security chip update for the new drivers by end of august. Guess what, we're still waiting.
        Useless bunch of w*****s

LOL i was banned from there for being a ViX team member as were supposedly spies for mr murdock. as for their patch, i love their excuse that they were 2 days away from a release but then Vu released new drivers ?. what a total load of crap. if they had a patch for the earlier drivers they would have released it.

Unfortunately, when I bought my clone at the beginning of the year, everyone was raving about them.
              Guess I'm just unlucky.

I agree with dell i feel your pain. and sadly those same supposedly respected users ( more like traders ) are now back peddling with their advice which is of no use to those who bought crap under their original advice.

                    lesson learnt.
Just waiting for the new vu+ range to be released before deciding on either a Solo2, Duo2, or Gigablue Quad if the Vu's are to expensive.
Just getting so bloody tired of waiting for them though!

The laughable thing about this clone of a clone stuff is that they recommend that you buy from only approved ferrari suppliers, when people asked for a list of approved suppliers these people got told to effectively do their homework and use common sense.

That reply made no sense at all and when people got irate with the response the admins started to getting irate with the people, really helped that did, NOT!

i see nothing wrong with clones i bet half the people here wouldn't know the difference if there wasn't slight hardware differences to original.

People should be happy there is clones about it gives a cheaper option and the original vu boxes are a rip off for what they are you can build a pc for the same sort of money with multi tuner card.

i think you'll find that of all the E2 receivers about the Vu's are some of the more reasonably priced units going. and certainly a damned site better than the rip off DM's, but this thread is not about price but more to do with the shockingly bad build quality and severely high failure rate of the current crop of clones.

                            Hi,

I was unfortunate enough to mistakenly buy a DM800 clone, although I did manage to get my money back and I bought a genuine one. The DM800 clone was the worst receiver I ever had the misfortune to own, but the genuine one was a great receiver. I now have a genuine Vu Duo, and having been on this forum for a while and read several horror stories about clones, I really feel for the people who bought them. In my humble opinion, it's a false economy buying a clone and it ruins the enjoyment people should be getting from their receivers. I also agree with RD about the price of Vu receivers, they are pretty reasonable. If these clones were any good they would be able to stand out in the market under their own name instead of using someone else's!

                            Just my tuppenceworth!

                            GAH

No comment on the Duo clones, that's been done to death but on the DM clone front, I've owned a few and the dm800se clone is the dogs nuts, IMHO. If only it had the capability of dual tuners as if it did I'd never have got myself a Duo clone.
