Genuine Duo - DVB-T tuner won't work via back USB, but will via front.

    Lo there,

Have a genuine Duo with Vix OE3.0. Currently running Motorised FTA setup

    Eldest wants to watch/record Dave.

Dug up old MSI DVB-T USB tuner stick and managed to get it working via the from USB port.
But it won't work via the back ports, after a number of reboots.
Any reason for this? Is this likely to be a power issue, i.e front port gets more juice than the back two?? Or some other reason??

    Cheers

    MD.

Update - tried to get this working in back ports via powered usb hub - but made no difference.
Will only see tuner in from usb socket and works fine without powered hub.
However don't want ugly usb stick and aerial lead stick out from of unit all the time.

It's the same with a dvb-s2 usb tuner. German fellow got it to work from back.

It leads me to think it is either, image related issue or perhaps the satellite (in case of dvb-s2 tuner) or signal.

As it's also happening on your terrestrial tuner i would think it might be image related. Might want to make a backup and try another image.

I'm sure some of the image devs might know the cause.

        Thanks for this.
Do you happen to know what image he used to get this to work, or (ideally) the link to the discussion.
        Can't seem to find it.

OK, Have just ran through this again.

          Blackhole 1.7.8
Out-of-the-box - DVB-T MSI Megasky 580 recognised in both front and back usb ports - no additional drivers needed.

          VIX OE3.0 latest cut (344??)
Out-of-the-box - DVB-T MSI Megasky 580 NOT recognised in either front and back usb ports

          VIX OE3.0 latest cut (344??)
          Driver install via:
          opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-gl861
          opkg files kernel-module-dvb-usb-gl861
          opkg depends kernel-module-dvb-usb-gl861

DVB-T MSI Megasky 580 is recognised in front USB, but NOT in back usb ports

          Bizarre or what???

So at this point if I want to use that tuner I have to go back to Blackhole - but I prefer the OE3.0 UI/skin installed as standard. Arrrrggghhhh

might want to inform the vix support forum, they might be able to assist you with this.

Tried it mate. Didn't really get anywhere.
Trouble is for me (and the family) the out-of-the-box Vix OE3.0 UI/skin is better than BH 1.7.X. Its a personal preference.
If there was a skin/setup for BH that was like the Vix OE3.0 setup I'd swap back and be able to use the DVB-T stick.
