been chatting with a Chinese supplier and he said that the reason the price of duo clones has dropped is that a v3 box is due out from Ferrari next week? has anyone heard anything?

A quick scout on the ferrari forum reveals that the V3 will be the long awaited update to allow new images to be loaded.

If they can improve build quality and reliability that would make the clones more appealing. Until then, what's the point gettingnthe latest i,ages on if the reliability of the PSU and other components is not up to scratch.

I would say thats false or misleading.

I know of 20 clones in group of friends that have them and been using them for over a year now and only 1 faulty screen which was easily replaced.

i got a bad clone but my friends box is spot on, on the fourms you never hear of all clones that work great just the one's that are faulty.
my dm800 clone has not missed a beat since i got it but there are plenty of horror stories involving the dm800.

imho its bad traders like asp**ysat now dre*mbo*par*s selling known bad goods that makes matters worse..

most of the bad clones are coming from YOAXCIN/MIXESHOP and uk suppliers who get their supplies from them or their cronies... there are decent clone suppliers out there but if you want 100% piece of mind then save a little longer and get an original, if not then do your homework before parting with your hard earned! regards mdt

i myself have had clones, had a clone of dm800 for years not a problem, then got a dm800se never had any issues, same with friends

i guess some clone suppliers use lesser quality parts then others do

Mate thats who I get all my stuff from.

I always deal with Tina direct and an honestly say they are fine and I have done a large amount from them.

1 tuner on a 800 and 1 display on the duo. They were both fixed right away.

can use the latest images. it make me think that VU
wont be as daft as dreambox they allowed clones to
get a hold on the market and kill there sales, and you need
to ask yourself will VU make anouther update to stop the v3 model
using the latest images?. if they do will it need v4 clone box?
is it worth buying clone models i would think twice before buying
a clone in the light of this and think it's going to better for all buyers
of VU models to go for a genuine model.

oh thought it would be a software update like it was last time, not worth it if gonna recieve new boxes everytime so use lastest images,

Its a software update and nothing else all new solo/duo's will have a V3.0 sticker to say they have been done.

Personally i cant see the problem running on an older 3.1.1 image as the box operates exactly as it should ie: to watch satellite television full stop what else does it need to do.
