    Problems installing new image.

I have had my VU+ Duo for a couple of years, all spot on, but I fancied a bit of a change from Vix to blackhole.
    It is not a clone.

I have put the BH image on my usb and it erased the old image and programmed the new one on, then said finished, remove usb and reboot.

When you reboot it just says: >Starting...
in the display and sits there for as long as you leave it.
There is no picture on the screen.

Any ideas????? Would be much appreciated.

    Clone or Original ?

If Original then you need to update kernal via usb

If clone, I think you can update v1 to v2 but you need a new box if you want the latest v3 for newer images.

Kernel update springs to mind seeing as you have not changed the image in 2 years so flash the kernel first and then the image

you need to update the bootloader not the kernel.
The kernel is part of the actual image.

All that done, been on it about 4 hrs, plenty of reading etc, bit more advice if anyone could help.
1)The bouquet editor, i always used, by just typing in the ip address no longer works, anyone know of an easy one for sorting the programs or is there one you can ftp across that is already done.
                  2) picture seems ok when watching tv, but when you press tv button and the channels are all displayed, its like the picture needs shift right by 20mm so the numbers can be seen properly.

Would appreciate any replies that will send me in the right direction.
                  Cheers

Dreamboxedit is great for editing your channel lists and is a doddle to use.
You can go into OSD settings and shift everything across so that the menus are all completely visible as well.

                        Thanks for replies,
I have shifted the picture about in setup > system > user interface > position setup. So that's all good.

Have manually done some bouquets, although very slow, DB edit, not managed to get my head round it yet, so may have to find a tutorial on it.

Also lost the hard drive since reflashing, when I go into system > Hard Disk > Initialisation. It says all data on the disk will be lost.
Wondered if there was a way around having to lose it all.
Also what would converting ext3 filesystem to ext4 do???

But thanks to your help, almost there now!!!!!
Unfortunately don't have all day to play with it today!!!!!
