    Noisy vu duo

I have a v2 duo clone, has been running great for 6 months. It is very noisy, Ive opened box up and disconnected fan and the noise stops.

Should a new fan sort this noise. Im not sure if it will as I had a similar problem with a dm800hd and replacing the fan did nothing...

it should do as others have changed fans, might be a few old posts about noisy fans, you need a fan on that box or it will kak it.

I though it would be ok if I disconnect the fan aslong as I also disconnect the hard drive so it would effectively be a vu+ solo until I get a new fan.

Or am I wrong....i dont want to mess the box up any further...

have you thought about peeling the sticker back on the fan and putting a drop of sewing machine oil in there that may help, a new fan is probably the better option in the long run

Well I have no trouble buying a new fan. Have read the fractal one is very good for the duo.

Now I have taken the fan out of a friends working duo and put into my own and there is an improvement, I could live with it.

But whats stumped me is Ive put my fan into my friends duo and his is still running perfectly silent.

Both are v2 clones bought from same guy....

could a bit of dirt/dust have been dislodged in doing so?

could be the fan was actually touching something inside your vu duo, or it could be a sign of the psu about to pack up ?
