hdmi port not working on duo

Hi,

Hoping someone can help.

My HDMI port isn't working but get a/v via scart and rgb cable. What are my options? The fuse blew on my plug which tripped the box and TV. TV has gone for repair. Box I changed the PSU and now no HDMI. What are my options? Tried different cables different ports and still doesn't work. Tried different HD consoles and all is working well. Tried different TV and still doesn't work.

Sounds like you may have had a power surge feedback from the TV to the Duo's HDMI port which would render it useless, And as the port is soldered to the mainboard you would have to replace that to fix the issue probably.

The thing is the duo TV s all connected to surge protected extension. Should it still happen?

Not worth the risk. Leave it running on component for the time being and see if a suitable box comes available. Can't find anyone that will do a replacement board,

I'm going to try factory reset and reflash of the image and see if that makes a difference as well.

was this box a clone or original,dont change hdmi cables when units are switched on,you never know what else damage wise was done with the power surge,how much was the surge protection you used.

It is a clone. HDMI cables have never been changed when switched on. Its only when I brought the vu duo back to life that the HDMI Port doesn't work. When u say how much surge protection was used what do you mean?

was it a cheap item stating surge protection or one that is warranted against damage? clone duos are never built with quality in mind and plenty of things go on them.

It sounds as if your equipment is at fault, especially the clone has caused the damage; surge protection will not protect against that if the surge protection is before that. Surge protection is when there are surges on the main power by various means like large motors, and it basically shorts out these transients voltages before they flow to your equipment. When that fuse had blown it is after the surge protection. I had a telly that blow the power supply because of transients voltage waves from the mains, but did not blow the fuse, so I put a varistor in the plug, and that would have protected against an induced transient voltage if the fuse had blown. In normal circumstances transients should not blow a fuse.
