    VU+ Duo Clone

Hello everyone I'm new to this type of tech so please bear with me.

I've bought what I thought was just a non working VU+ Duo for a project that is stuck with Starting on the front panel but I have now found out it's a clone.
Before I knew it was a clone I tried to flash it via USB and via the RS232 cable connected via USB to a laptop running Windows 7. Nothing happens even with 2 different USB sticks and formatting them differently.
Now I know it's a clone I wondering if there was anyway of getting this box back into life please.

BTW A sticker on the back says V 2.0 and another sticker above that says VU+ Duo and BN and SN codes. The chip inside appears to be a Ferrari V3 I believe.

Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

    Pete.

hi mate try this ps not my work
Fix "Starting..." stuck box and Fix Red Light
Update the "DUO boot.bin" to the box as explained on the txt (See Folder 1).
    - Update the "vu_2ver_22m_130110_sec_isp.bin" to the box (Run software and load the bin file, then turn on the box and let it do the full update) (See Folder 2).
    - Load with USB Stick the CFE (See Folder 3)
    - Then load your image...

p.S.: This solution is to be used, if you are sure that you loaded a compatible image on the box, and only loading a V3 image it doesn't fix it.

Hiya Shaun and thank you very much for the quick reply.

Unfortunately I have tried this method without success. I don't have the small RS232 board connector. I do have a RS232 cable with I got with a VU+ Solo2 SE I bought. Also I used a RS232 to USB connector to plug into my laptop which is running Windows 7 and I'm not sure if I'm right but I read somewhere I might need the RS232 board connector and a laptop running XP with a RS232 real port. If that's the case then I can probably sort out an XP laptop with the RS232 port but I don't think I can get a RS232 board. When I have tried the method you suggested (after sorting out the cable drivers) I can change the comm port successfully and load the Duo.bin file but when I click Update nothing happens.

      Any help again please?

          Thanks to Toysoft for info:-
You need to use the cable provided with box

          - You need to use the Rs232 board provided with box (connected on the back of the receiver)
          - You need to use a LAPTOP
          - You need to have WinXP installed
          - You need to have a REAL Rs232 on the laptop

These are the conditions, if not all met you can corrupt the chip or fail the job of updating. hth

Thank you Dougal. I can probably meet all apart from the RS232 board. I bought this knowing it needed repairing but I didn't know it was a clone and the seller didn't send a RS232 board. I have opened a case with eBay as the item is fake/clone but thank you all for your help.
