Blackhole

Ive just bought a VU+ solo (clone) with Blackhole installed. (I used to have a dm500 clone)
Is that the best image or is there another that is generally prefered?
Can It be bricked if I put a wrong image likie me dm500 could be?

Why don't you use the box for a while before you start to change it. I assume you have bh 1.6.6 or higher loaded which means you will have bootloader update ie v2 on box. You can't put 1.7.6 on it or the higher vix images at this time. Never use the wrong file when updating by usb.
