vu+ solo query

Hi everyone new to this forum, have been using a F5 for a few months ok for the price but as we all no the EPG is poor, looking at buying a vu+ solo, i no there is a lot of talk about setting up, is it straight forward setup getting started, i would like to use the cool tv guide which would give me decent epg, am i right in thinking the usb stick has to stay plugged in to keep everything working, sorry to waffle on but am quite new to all this, i dont want to buy one and get stressed out trying to set this up... any help would be great thanks...

You don't NEED usb storage, but it is a good idea, not only for the epg data (which otherwise would be stored in flash memory on the Solo.. Thus taking up valuable system space) but a hdd would let you record and timeshift too.
