    VU Solo clone locking up

    Hi guys

I've fitted a few Vu solo clones for friends and family all running Openvix with no issues apart from the odd lock up which would show up in the logs as out of memory.
So I added a usb and loaded the Picons and pointed the epg at it and all was fine since.

However I went to see family this weekend down south and trust this one to go wrong.

At first it wouldn't even last a minute and it would just stop dead and the screen would go off and just show frozen when the HDMI was plugged back in and not even the frozen VIX loader.

I actually got it to last long enough so I could load the Picons and epg onto a stick and after that it was fine.

Now I'm home its playing up doing the same again and there's no crash logs to be found as if it's not even being given time to write it.

I can FTP into it when it's on so potentially I could transfer an image onto the stick and try and guide them to flash it although that would be an absolute pain as they can just about work the remote!!

Anyone have any ideas on what else I could do?

    Thanks in advance

what firmware are you running on box, hope its not original firmware with drivers of 2014 =box killer, plugin issue something might be clashing and you might end up having to do a fresh install.tell us more info to advise further.

      See box spec below

      And plugins

This is the same spec for every box I've had the past few months which is why it's driving me nuts.

thats a lot of plugins,v3 808 should be ok possibly a bad plugin loaded.how much memory left as if not enough box wont start as in epg going to internal flash and not to usb.

The epg and picons are saved on a 8gb USB stick.

I put that in as I've had it lock up because of that before but usually it creates a crash dump where as this doesn't.

Guess I could try removing some of the plugins as most probably won't get used anyway

I've just flashed open pli onto my box, set it up with their config.

Taken an image and now going to try an Ftp it onto the USB stick on the problematic box and then try and get them to flash it which is simple enough really.

              That's my theory anyway:-/

Bit of a strange one, before I flashed it we removed the USB stick and it has been stable since.

Only reason why I can think is because epg and picons are now completely removed?

The usb will fill with epg data eventually so it needs deleted occasionally. The usb can be viewed via ftp ie if you mounted it as media usb say then look in media usb folder and it should show you what is in it.
