I am not sure if this belongs in a Crossepg thread or atimer thread. I had a timer record problem in September last year I had managed toreset my Vu+ Solo2 with two satellite feeds, both 28.2E and the recordingproblems disappeared. I am operating with Blackhole 2.0.6.3 and have been usinga Rytec EPG downloaded to an internal HDD on a daily basis. I have beenrecording individual programmes and weekly episodes of series using the timerwithout much of a problem until March this year. It was then that I startedhaving problems with the EPG and the timer recording – the timing may becoincidental but I suspect they are linked.
First of all, the EPG stopped downloading on a daily basis.I consulted various forums and discovered that others were having similarproblems, so I switched to a Crossepg provider, which did the trick for awhile. At about the same time, some of the programmes I had set to record onlyrecorded a blank screen and the information on the recording as to time andduration was all to cock. Since then I have had persistent problems with EPGdaily downloads and have been downloading manually, using the yellow button. Mysuccess with these has become more and more inconsistent and I have noticedthat every time I download an EPG, I appear to lose the effectiveness of thetimer recording facility. That is to say, the timer event is still listed in theTimer Menu and the programme remains marked in the EPG but not brightlyhighlighted and the recoding comes out as a blank screen. I have had no choicebut to delete the original timer event and re-input the timer recordingdetails. This is becoming extremely tedious.
Over the last two weeks I have consulted various themes on differentforums and, having deleted EPGdat files and tried XMLTV and XEPGDB providers(none of which work on a daily basis), I have managed to get an OpenTV providerto work on a daily download. However this has not solved the timer recordingissue. I still lose the effectiveness of timer recording after both manual andautomatic downloads of the EPG. For the time being I have decided to manuallydownload the EPG once or twice a week and redo the timed events each time. Ihave posted this issue on another forum but have not received any useful responses.
Because of this, I decided to take some positive butdrastic action. First of all I flashed a new version of Blackhole(2.0.9) and onthe third attempt got it to load OK. It made no difference – timer recordingsappear to be disabled after each EPG update (manual or automatic). So I decidedto be even more drastic and did a factory reset, re-flashed Blackhole 2.0.9 andloaded new versions of TS Panel, bouquets, Cross EPG and reconfiguredthe satellite feeds and set up the channels. All the methods of EPG downloadswork but I still have the timer recording issue.
Once I set a timer event, it works and repeats itself aslong as the EPG is not updated. As soon as there is an update, the timer eventstill shows but the marker next to the programme in the EPG is “dimmed”. If therecording takes place in this condition, the recording is listed but with notime duration shown and when played, shows a black screen for a while and thenstops with an “end” message.
I have continued to do further research on this but cannotfind many references. One I looked at mentioned a file (lib/opkg/lists)becoming overfull but this was in relation to VIX set up and anyway my file wasempty.
I have now exhausted the areas I can tackle and I amdesperate for some advice on how to proceed. Please help if you can
