    Default what sensor--primera 2.0

what sensor is located on the front of the gearbox....as your looking at the engine its just at the start of the gearbox from the block and has a 2 pin plug in it and is held in with a 10mm bolt?

reason i ask is i have just noticed this has snapped on mine and half of it is still in gearbox...seems very tight to get out, could this affect car starting?

    car is a 99(v) 2.0 sport+

i'm thinking crankshaft sensor as it looks inline to the flywheel?

Try start it and find out .

If its the crank sensor it might not start but it still might if it has a cam sensor .

It could be the reverse switch for your lights , stick it in reveres with the ignition in pos II and if the lights don't come on it's that .

it could also be your speed sensor. if the car starts and your speedo dont work it's that .

Sounds like the crank sensor m8, picks a signal up off the flywheell to tell the car when to spark.

I have had several Primera's but on the '99 with SR20 engine there is stil an distrubitor with cam and crank sensor inside. Back-up switch should be at the underside of the gearbox near the gear lever, so i am curious what you sensor you mean. Picture?
