Hi recently got the missus a 308 1.6 hdi ( 80 ) for work. Bought if my dads neighbour as it was a bad starter and he needed something reliable, when he had it it used to take about 5 tries to get started, then gradually got worse needing up to about 12. He took it to a garage who changed the glow plugs, changed the fuel filter and tries a common rail pressure sensor from a working car. Then apparantly bypassed the sender unit in the tank and it started straight away, however that was about months ago and its stood still since as he got a new car. Apparantly though once it started it would fire up all day.
Since yesterday I've took out the sender unit and cleaned the crap from under the little filter next to the pick up pipe, changed the glow plugs again and a new fuel filter but still wont start.
It seems the car has forgotton its key as it's not recognising it's in iginition as it's not bleeping when when key is left in ignition and drivers door opened, so I suspect the immobilizer will be on.
when it's running on easy start and crack off a injector nut there is fuel getting to the injectors, but as soon as i stop spraying it dies. However if just cranking over by the key and crack injector nut theres no fuel coming out.
So could it be the immobilizer stopping the pump or should there still be fuel there?
If there should be fuel there, do it sound like the pump is on its way out?
