Last time when i replaced faulty steering in modus with used working, only eeprom from old must place to "new" steering, all working well.

NOPE - Nil Poi -- disagrre with you, because.

You sepend all day on a Reno - you fix the fault which is a bastard to find, bastard to fix, but the part is cheap.

You discover now 3 other things have stopped working/now leaking, water, diesel, pig piss etc etc.

So you feel guilty that the car is now in a worse state, so you charge the customer 2 hours incliding parts.

The next car is a vauxhall (Opel) - the job takes you 2 hours to do, the parts are fairly cheap - you charge all day labour + parts.

Dumb ***** then brings his reno back moaning about something else.

Guy with Vauxhall is over the moon!

i do'nt know how is it in your country, but my customers pays to me whole work, independently to their car manufacturer - opel, renault, seat, skoda , citroen, ...... still the same tax/hour and renault parts are not cheap. Cheapest card reader for Laguna II cost about 320euro.
Finding faults is work as any other, only renault is real S..T and find it takes more time.
I have any guilty feeling. Why ? Customers renault sh.t, customers problem, not mine. He can go to authorized service, and give them 50x more money.

sorry i was refering to the steering ecu and motor not the engine.
i'm going to look at a scrap 2004 megane to see if the motor from it will suit the modus, fingers crossed.

    HI

    I have find used steering.
I put old eeprom (24C16) in new steering.
I put it into car, and I have exactly same fault (DF002).
I think fault is write into 24C16.
I have try to fill eeprom with FF, but don't connect with clip.

Have you virgin dump, please to test?

    Thanks

probably yes, i'm not sure vin is enough, but you can test it. Sure it is coded to car and with used steering from another car won't start. i newer read this eeprom, only swap it.
