Do you find DK sluggish of late?

Eva I've noticed you're posting this in the wee small hours. There are certain tasks that are performed automatically by the server during the night which are quite resource intensive and can slow the server down dramatically. I've chosen these times as there are less active members.

We do a database backup every day and saving a 10GB text file take quite a while and everything else suffers during this time...but it has to be done .

Generally we have a pretty decent server and its usually running at about 25-35%. We could have about 4000 active members during the day and could cope quite well.

The SB on any forum regardless of the VB version is a resource hog, plus we have mtv and gmb

why now now thats just horrible

yes, i thought it might have been something to do with server backups, guess i'll have to go to bed earlier!
