Holidays section

Thinking that a holidays section would be good
Somewhere to post where in the world you have been on hols
From prices of package or tailor made prices
Good and bad hotels
Where to avoid etc etc
Obviously these would be personal experiences
Not sure if you could name and shame on here what with legal issues etc
Anyway just a thought
What do you think peeps/devilfish/mods ?

cable not a bad idea this but would it be popular, i dont know and there are loads of other places where we can get that info. Perhaps just posts for reccomended holidays to avoid legal implications..

Great idea, I do hope though that you can name and shame, cause there are some awful dumps ppl get landed in on package holidays. Could save some DK'ers a holiday from hell.

With over 200.000 members and most have at least 1 holiday a year i personally think it would work
Agreed there are lots of other places to get info
Which peeps probably do frequent,,if it was here on dk it would just add to the various review sites etc you can go to
Most peeps post in general section if they have been or are about to go on hols
Would be nice to have that in one section

There was a very recent name and shame in general chat its still there so maybe thats all good

Great idea, where ever i go on holiday or which hotel i book i try to get as much info as i can, nice to know what im in for before hand, and reviews will always help me decide wether too or not to book a particular hotel

I am interested... not so much for the package hol type, but being a tight coont AND wanting to travel the world, tips on cheap alternatives...
For instance.. Rome... you can fly in, check into a top hotel and enjoy the sights on guided tours.. OR do it like I did, camping 20 mile out, park and ride, 1 euro to travel for an hour into Rome..

I done loads of cheapo hols like that... and would be good to get my info down before I fully forget it.
I think a hols section would be good.

in the current climate a cheap step by step guide would be great,,i tend to try and do the same whenever possible,,not much response on holiday section so maybe experiences will have to stay in the general chat

think i suggested this before but it was a no go unf. i think its a great idea but from memory (and thats bad) i think it was because peoples opinion of hotels etc can be so different.

id really like if anyone posted info about holidays doesnt need to be abroad etc

seems a good idea, we could all share 'no holds barred' genuine reports on areas and hotels, holiday companys etc.

I'd seriously recommend the Canadian Rockies if you're the type that wants to live life as opposed to frying on a beach. Fly by Canadian Affair depeneding on timings from ?288 return to Calgary. Book a hire car from down town Calgary so you don't pay Airport Tax etc. Head for the Rockies and stop off at Canmore just outside the Park. Stay in a B+B instead of a Hotel. The rooms are every bit as good as the Hotels and food is normaly thrown in. Buy a weekly ticket to the Rockies and drive in. Don't follow the Highway 1 take the 1A which is a back road with more chance of seeing Bears, Moose etc. Most large towns like Banff and Jasper have Supermarkets so you can get food on the cheap. You will see some stunning scenery and if lucky a Japanese tourist being eaten by a Bear. I've done the Rockies countless times having lived over there for a few years and everytime it recharges my batteries. There's plenty of nightlife if you hit the towns or you can hire a campervan and stop off at some quality camp sites and live the outdoor life.

we could add a 'holiday hookers' feature so not only can the poster talk about his holiday experience, other peeps who've been to the area can discuss/advise on the local 'brass', we could give each place a score seperate from the usual holiday scoring criteria, be handy for people on a budget to be able to identify the best destination choice based on the avg cost/hour, avg age, abbundance, distance to destination, flight cost, STD prevelance and personal recomendations, we'd also be able to do our bit, and identify the areas with a high 'undercover ladyboy' risk....... reckon it'd go down a treat...
