    Newbie status

If you are a supporter you should be removed from the status "Newbie" to Member. One Poster calls us "Leeches" and is ignoring requests for a password. He, She only has a few posts, not a supporter, but has member status due to demanding thanks first and getting 100+ of them in one post. They also are not very good with the thanks button.
I have been a Newbie for a year now and have given what I have, not BS but time, advice, posts, support and thanks when due. I am still a "Newbie".
One post I made was an expensive training program, I purchased, and shows 50+ rapid share downloads and only 3 thanks. Its not what you are that should matter but what you have to give.
Thanks to Everyone for being them self and not being selfish.

Hi alsop, while it is not for me to set the rules here on DK I would agree that as a supporter you should be a member.
Your 20 posts to DK are as important to me as gmb's 5,000+ as all help and make the site more interesting.
The use of the thanks button is up to the individual and we cant force anyone to use it.
Your status here would not be considered in a reply as we all try to help each other.
Finally, if my first line gets me banned from DK then I would consider it the best post I've ever made on DK. Regards...pat.

You're banned Pat I rarely look at a members status when posting or is that just me?

It should'nt make any difference weather your a supporter or not if you want to give to dk then so be it if members want to thank you for a post thats up to them. you cant tell people to sponsor dk and you'll be awarded with a big shiney badge, it just sounds like your trying to buy favour imh....

as far as i can see alsop is a member
albeit a junior member,as pat says a different colour for your name or a different title beneath it does not mean your support and contribution does not go unnoticed
when i first joined it was primarily for help,as is the case with most new members,i never really took the time to have a look around the site properly, but as time went on and i did look around more i realised that this place is an unbelievable encyclopedia of info in one place,i was a bit hesitant to make posts as i thought i was new and nobody would take the time to reply or say thanks etc, that couldnt of been further from the truth,,.....
stick with dk mate and you will see after a while that you will receive the recognition you deserve for your contributions
ps i never even noticed the thanks button for ages even though i could see thanks below posts

In this case, i think that a member has been here a year and made how many posts?

I know upto Veteren that is all that goes on post count, so given that you have made 20 posts inside a year this would be why. I dont think that it needs reviewing, but thats just my thoughts

It's nothing personal m8 and not a ploy to keep yu as a newbie. Your a newbie because of the amount of posts you make not the time you've been here. You move up in status depending on the amount of posts untill you reach Veteran.Your status has nothing to do with thanked posts or thanking people it's entirely based on the amount of posts you make.

                THE TRUTH
                The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

                    Hummmmm

I'm not sure I expressed myself right. I just don't believe people should be judged nor denied by their status. Now the poster has expressed "WE are password protecting everything" to keep the leeches out.
And it still would be a nice bit of recognition, to have a member status for a small contribution. The word member to me is like really being a part of something big. DK does give rewards already for being a supporter so it's not like a bribe or new badge to show off. This is the best forum in the world. Why not make it a little better every day. Thank you everyone for your wisdom with this matter.

I feel member alsop has made a very useful post here... Bulld0g expresses very clearly the relationship between status indicated and post count..

What does concern me is the use of the word 'leecher' or 'leeches'' on the forums. It's such an ugly word.. What we want to promote here on DK is friendliness within the forum, regardless of how many posts a member has made.

                      It's something I'm thinking about...............

Ok: If I want to be known as a top poster that trick people into thinking I know what I am talking about, all I need to do is post a program with enthusiasm, password protect it, and wait for the request for the passwords. New post: "Done Check your in box" I'll be up there in no time. No thanks I'd rather stay at Newbie level than waste valuable space.
This is not looking good as this could and is becoming a trend. I've logged in every day since joining and have read a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed it as well as reaped the benefits. Really good posts are now becoming hard to find.
I've learned more today than I have in weeks.
                        Thank you for everyone's time.

This is because new members tend to join just to grab files. Its happened since i joined. Its the nature of the forum and as you said its a very friendly forum.

I see yout point alsop. As said, new members tend to jion just for files from the download section. I think its been mentioned about passwording files up with win rar and making a script that if you hit the thanks button, it will reveal the password, but this was dismissed.

I think in some areas that there could be a case of thread hijacking, peope just replying thanks instead of just clicking the thanks button, again this could just be down to making a post, to gain access to downloads, or to add to post count.

Allot of members who have been here along time, and some that aint, dont look at status, remember its the posts and members that make a forum
