    Locking out the main forums

Could it be possible to lock out the main forums until new users have x ammount of posts?

Maybe until they post in the intro section they cant see they general chat forum.

Maybe 5 posts then they open up the other forums other than the garage?

I been noticing threads of late with the user 1 post done and just saying thanks or i have this issue, they never return mostly i think its to gain access to downloads.

    What does eveyone else think?

i agree, but unless morework is gonna be heaped on admin/mods to vet each post, then whats to stop the leechers just posting 5 lots of shite instead of one?
    Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

But at least the rubbish is in 1 area and may not affect the threads its posted in, wonder how many thread have 'thanks for this' posted in them and bet the more popular threads have pages of them.

I'm not suggesting it to heap work on mods/admin was an idea to try make their lives a little easier on here.

How many welcome posts do we see each day in the wrong section?

how about the site uploading a virus to new members computers. it can sit in their system harmlessly until such a time that they, for some reason, don't log in to the site for more than 2 or 3 days. then it will start systematically removing files from their hard drive.

          that'll teach 'em.

It's been suggested a few times but we've always came to the same conclusion that one intro post is better than 5 or 10 or 20 shit posts in every section. People come looking for answers to their problems, some stay, some go, that's just the nature of forums.

Surely it is all about helping people at the end of the day. A lot of people come on to DK not knowing where to start and it takes a while to manoeuvre round the site with ease. People will always be helpers or users. Don't worry about the latter they don't stay long but the one's that do gain knowledge and then pass it on. Life is one big learning curve and you gain everyday. Keep up the good work guys.

Ok how about locking the main forums until.a welcome post has been made?

For instance, when you register the only open forum would be introduce yourself.
Once this is done, the other forums open up.

Wouldn't that ~~~~ up a redirection to here after a google search if the main forum isn't available to view for guests. Personally I would prefer to see the first 5 or so downloads only available by way way of direct link from registered member then the next 5 or so available after a specified number of thanks received. Everybody on here is capable of helping other members no matter how much if newbie they are, we all have different intrests and experiences which is why dk had the widest range of discussion topics

Personally I think we have had more of these type of threads than one post wonders.............but that's just my opinion, which by the way counts for nowt or should I say counts just as much as a new members' opinion

It was an idea sats. I have noticed a few more than usual 1 post in other sections other than intros. I thought it would have helped the mods/admin if the only forum a new member coukd post in was intros other than the main forums.

Im not saying lock the forum from viewing. Im saying lock them out from posting until they made thier intro
