A password request button / send PW txt

    Hi

I've been here for only a couple of months.

I've noted one main issue which may only relevant to a few members.

I for instance, would really love a password from a member so I can "view" an interesting pdf file. The problem is, PMs take up room so they are limited in the number issued to members. Every time that member checks in every two or three weeks, even though it may only be a day later, if I try to PM them, their mailbox is already full again - or maybe they're waiting for occasional members to read their PMs in the outbox and really don't want to clean up until they hear back.

So thinking about it, this same thing would happen with popular shares no doubt. I know a PW (password) request button [maybe as a tag a poster could add in themselves? ] might seem silly, but for popular files, it would save a bit of server space. It might take a bit of coding to ensure only one request per user per file. Push a button -- and the thread post link or file title, along with the user name is sent to them. Short and sweet and saving a whole pile of data needing to be stored.

What's the feeling about this, maybe, not needed or just not worth the trouble?

That sounds like a splendid idea cunny, much better than a silly pw request -- as long as the hidden spoiler type affair was managed totally insite and not anything too specific like activex or off site "management" like calling a google site (like googleapis.com) which more or less purposely bump older browsers from doing much.

          Or

          1) no passwords (but we WILL loose lupu_sandu)
          2) a way to highlight members when they post asking for
Help so you know to ignore them, as they password stuff
Which only annoys people ands stops people getting stuff working
          And learning.

          3) goes both ways with passwords i bricked an ecu because the correct file some
Knob passworded it, got another, to risk no password, wrong file bricked, bbut would hhave been ok if correct file not paspassworded hate this iShit more ecery time i use it

I think this would be a good idea...still a good question how it could be done.

I think that would be easier to implement into the forum, but what if the original poster only wants to share the pw with people he/she picks? Maybe make the passwords show to a user when he/she reaches a certain rank/post count?
