Lots of good threads ruined and good infos completely buried by 100s of 'thanks' posts, ironically, alot of these spammers dont even hit the thanks button for the person theyre thanking . Could they be deleted? I do it myself if had the powaaz

The THANKS button

Agree with del625's first post here, about the number of posts we're seeing, just to say 'thanks'. While I agree there isn't much hardship to scroll down, it's usually more often the case, there are several of those posts, all in the same thread. When this occurs, having too many 'thanks' posts can disrupt the discussion flow somewhat, as we all know.

I feel the reason for this is, because it is usually new members copying each other.... and maybe due to them not having taken the time to read the stickys in the introduction section before posting, or it's just that they haven't been there at all. This could be occuring for possibly two reasons.. (1) there is a language difficulty or (2) new member is all too consumed with the initial registration process, that the message given to make a post in the introduction section is either missed or forgotten.

This is were I'd like to offer a suggestion, that may help to reduce the amount of single 'thanks' posts.

That is to introduce additional stickys in the most affected sections. For example, in the 'Radio Decode', 'ECU', 'IMMO' and so on.. In the Garage section, new members often have a particular interest in an area of automotive electronics, and spend most of their time there. Having a sticky within those sub-sections would serve to alert and draw attention to forum etiquette.

Probably better explaining by example, with some possible suggested text...

Having said all that, I feel it should always be remembered, when a member makes a post to say 'Thanks', it has been made with the very best of intentions.

Maybe my suggestion can serve to alleviate the amount of 'Thanks' posts, and at the same time encourage new members to take time to make themselves familiar with the rules and use the 'Thanks' button. :

One other thing to note, on some forums, it's common place to post a thank you, like on warez forums, they are encouraged to post a thanks to keep the thread bumped to the top of the forum.
