Perhaps we should have a 'password rule' - ie if it's an immo off file or milage IN-correction for somebody then the password is of that persons name

If it's like the above, where it is started and it's for anybody then no password.

Didn't bother reading all the posts in this thread as I can't be @rsed (oops me tourettes), firstly this is an age old problem.

For some it's a way to increase post count, if it counts for something, others just genuinely are polite.

I personally do not like 'thanks' as it is lazy, if I do post a thanks, I like to include some useful info if relevant.

The thanks button is all very well, but does make it a bit sterile.

When I was a lot more active as Mod/Smod etc, we used to prune the thanks posts on a regular basis.

Then prune the members who's post count went below a certain level, this was a good deterrent to those who weren't just there to lurk or leech.

Lastly, isn't it ironic that a thread about thanks posts, has increased the amount of useless posts!!
No offence meant.
