I'm new to this forum and have recently got into the EEPROM thing, after replacing my 6WA for a 6WB in my 2017 BMW F30. I removed a 2012 6WA cluster and bought a cheap R270 programmer and a cheap rework station to virginise the 160DOWQ chip before re-soldering back to the board, low and behold upon powering up on my test bench - it works and is fully virginised. I've since ordered and am waiting on delivery of a VVDI Prog tool and a 35160DW chip as I have a 2017 cluster which has a Smelecom emulator adaptor installed. At the moment I'm doing this as a hobby but one day it might become something more! Who knows?
