Joined the forum to see how and where to even begin reverse engineering and remapping modern(ish) ECUs. My background is calibration engineering where we had all of the documentation and A2L's you need, plus INCA to calibrate in real time. Before that job my background was software engineering but after seeing 40,000+ page software documentation for some ECUs, going from disassembly level or just trying to find values looking through winOLS such as a single value boost limiter feels rather difficult.
Between myself and some friends we all have cars we want to map ourselves such as MS45 on a Z4 M54B30 (ideally would like to turbo), R53 mini, Audi A3 with CBBB engine which I want to put into my peugeot 205 (so lots of reverse engineering of CAN and possibly some dissasembly to make it happy without comms to ABS/ESP, Immo/clocks etc), and an X5 with turbo diesel engine [forgotten the engine code]. Hoping to find some pointers here =]
