Good to see someone getting into the trade early — being a mechanic is one of those careers where hands-on experience matters more than anything else.
If you’re just starting out, the main thing is to focus on learning the fundamentals properly: diagnostics, basic engine theory, electrical systems, and not just “parts swapping.” The more you understand how systems work, the faster you’ll progress compared to just following instructions.
Also don’t underestimate the value of working under someone experienced for a while. Even if the pay isn’t amazing at the start, you pick up habits, shortcuts, and real-world problem solving that you won’t get from manuals or videos.
Stick with it, ask questions when you’re unsure, and try to get exposure to as many different vehicle types and issues as possible. That variety builds confidence pretty quickly.
As you get further along, you’ll also notice that a lot of the work in any workshop isn’t just technical repair, but also coordination of jobs, parts, and timelines. That’s where having some structure around workflows and task handling becomes useful, especially in busy environments.
