Just ktag 6.070 with tweaked sw from chineses to fake fw version and fool people into thinking is something new.

The alwats marketing technique, sell same thing but new name and facelift.

you have other issue on the PCB
use an multimeter to see if you have connectivity between FTDI and USB plug of the tool.

yes probably your FTDI failed. it's quite common with chineese tools.

If your FTDI is OK
than near to USB plug you have one small device marked with U46

just change the uC after 750 usages, reprogram and you will have other 750 runs!

hi guys, have problems with ecd17c54 for crafter ecu. can't read with kessv2.
it starting ID, and trying read, reading going usually till 25% then error and Communication line not present or corrupted.
I use 13,43v and good supply. Use good shielded USB cable because with ~~~~ one even no ID.
Done rework, capacitors, filters, transistors, and re-solder all pcb. Remove resistor on the back. Same story.

what i notice then you reading, its switching ignition till 25% maybe 2-4 times. it is normal?

Hello OVERSPEED with Kess V2 Clone is TProt 8/10 NOT possible by OBD ! you musst do it in Boot mode !! I did one without problems ! use pogopins for connection ! is better than soldering

I use small dremel with disc cutter to put slots in them for easy removal and then replace with new bolts if vehicle is still in warranty

yes...change nxp and use fw 4.024 full...and you will reset tokens like on 3.099 with j-link

Made a bootmode backup. The file is scrambled...I guess encrypted. Is this normal? Or my kess is not OK?
Obd read no problem. Bootmode flash is ok, and only the backup is mesed up. Every read is different.

if not work ok now,is time to push buton UPDATE TO 4.036 fw

But if there is some problem with bootmode protocol, why is the bootmode flash read correct?
Backup reads micro (intflash) and eeprom, then saves a single file.

3.099 you can find on your cd from china seller...i don"t know what china shi+ you have there...look on ksuite when start,and press info...there is writed all..firmware,client code,serial number
only if you have bought this kess with 3.099
if you have bought the kess with 4.036,well,your nxp need to be changed

i think i will not to be able to soldering the murata filters to the ground. my pcb is so SHI* that has no ground underneath the component. :apologetic:

post all info about your tool mate...what firmware and what software version you use...what rework you have done...and maybe you need to look what protocol it said to use...

First load the firmware 4.026 and sd data.
Changes in the pcb, transistors, capacitors and filters Murata.
The protocols are active, but I have noticed that sometimes when I plugged the adapter to boot have been blocked. Disconnect the adapter boot, rebooted the kSuite soft and become active again protocols.
Once the boot connect the adapter stopped working kess not the LED lighting power, did nothing when connected to USB, kess dead. A few hours later reconnected the boot adapter and magically rekindled the LED power and began the work kess USB again.

ok mate...your tool is not gone on internet and can be reppaired...internet change fw from 4.036 to 4.037
what is strange is only your serial number and client code (you use the firmware with cars,bikes and trucks?)
format sdcard fat 32 and look if it have 2 gb
remake the update of your tool without internet conection using sw 2.08 and the update pack 4.036
and report
another chance for restoring your tool is to use a good token (cfg) and remake the update

This has been a very useful thread full of info, but I was wondering why it is suggested to connect the ground terminals of the Murata filters to the RF point. The genuine item has the grounds connected to, erm.... ground, and the RF point connected to the case. RF isn't connected to the PCB ground at all.

On the KTag there is a ground point (just below the upper 220uF capacitor), on the V2 you can just remove a small section of the print and connect the Murata grounds directly to the circuit board.

Your pic is not very clear but can see murata filter grounds are not linked and earthed out and 30 hey just make a cup of tea whilst writing file back [emoji4]

OK. Murata filters are grounded correctly. Been through the thread and i can only see that MM1 & RF need to be grounded for electrostatic discharges. So the murata filters should also be grounded to RF & MM1 or not? And then grounded to case?

RF & MM1 are not connected to the rest of the ground circuit shared by the rest of the components. Not on any of my V2s or KTags, that's for sure. So unless the Chinese decided to alter the clone PCB from the ORI PCB, then no.... do not connect the circuit ground to the case via RF & MM1 points. Need someone with an ORI tool to check the continuity, ideally, and then copy that setup for clones with replacement Murata filters. Higher quality clones don't need to be altered unless it is found that RF & MM1 are connected to main circuit ground on the ORI tool.

Also, for info, clone KTag has 2x RF & MM points (top left & bottom right). Neither of these are connected to circuit ground, or each other for that matter.

P.S. None of this may have an actual bearing on the tool's performance, but it is always ideal to copy the original setup exactly. That is where the R&D has been done!

Just looking into this a bit further, there is 200kΩ resistance between RF and circuit (signal) ground. By connecting the Murata filter grounds directly to RF, this resistance is being bypassed.

So if you insist on grounding Murata filters to the RF point, do it via a 200kΩ resistor. Can't see any reason why you would, though.

Look into RF grounding techniques.

I reflashed processor to 4.036, copy content TF for this FW and updated successfuly. Then I used token reset, hope successfuly.
But when I start SW I have no customer ID and group code are blank. Moto not active. All protocols are gray.
I resolder whole PCB, tried different SW but no luck.
The current situation is the processor is locked, cannot be reflashed.

The china interfaces has to be reworked pcb to function well .

For flash . Hex use u-link
For flash .bin use j-link

If the programer doesnot recognize the mcu then the mcu is protected and canot be read.

I put Magic_Flash with tool (fbl232) to kess and first I wanted to see if it was blocked (CPR) but did not appear at all. I wanted to update to version 4.024. BUT here I am told that my tool china you can not upgrade. BUT they do not know to explain why. I would like to understand. But they do not understand. Maybe it will be the MCU? Blocked or not upgradeable ?. But with hot air I can sloccarla. Not a problem sloccare the cpu_nxp perhaps no other?
