the value of the image is 472 and not 224, is it okay?

No. No need desolder fdti. All you do soldered, the same with new chip, solder New chip and programm via usb.

All this elements is Cmos chips. But dont sure now the codes. Will tell you later and share dontent tonwrite ftdi

Hello guys, i need some help from the experts...
I want to do the rework on my Kess Red PCB China clone, and i found a webpage with pictures, and components codes.
I got all the components but there is one, that seems very small compared to the actual one on the board and the PCB tracks fro soldering...
I was hopping you guys can confirm me is the component code is correct, and if so, how can i "weld" this component to the board, if the tracks seem to be with bigger distances for the component i have.
627533 in this picture, the component marked with number "1".
According to the tutorial i found, the code for this component is "CSTCE8M00G15L99R0" (muRata).
But this component only has like 3/3.5mm lenght, and the one on the PCB has 7.2mm.
Is this code correct? if i dont change this component, will it make a big difference?

KESS v2 5.017. With ksuite2.47 they support F series BMW?

If i know is 2 version ksuite 2.47 one with and one without F series., this where is F series on list there all models is on Grey Color but when you choose some model from F series then going to next menu where is ID, Reading, writing.. but dont sure this works.
Another ksuite 2.47 is without F series because someone said, all F is cut from list because dont work any way.

Another question what you think about Siemens pcr2.1 with kess 5.017 and Unlock via kess..
i reading some person have problem after unlock but some person never.
how is you experaince with both models.. F series and Pcr2.1.

1. You can do self using winhex

3. You can contact with someone (contact on PM) you just give him CID number from new card they build for you image 121mb (cost €30)

Chinese have poor quality elements, specially capacitors, voltage stabilizators and crappy micro sd card which from unknown reason can be data corrupted and sometimes is fitted wrong transistors, swapped cables in tricore cable..
So reworking pcb made you sure more stable unit just to you not been souprised in importent moment why doesnt or stop work.

I think a good reworked kess (with good micro sd), has no problem to correct checksums...

I'm still in debate between MMPS v13 (the metal caseback), galetto and kess v2 + rework. As i heard MMPS v13 doesn't need any rework, works ok. I just need it for my friends cars EDC15, and EDC16+/EDC16C32

Just reboot computer and K-TAG woke up.
Maybe many times i connect-disconnect K-TAG for experiments with SD-card and USB port is locked.

2.25 for me has worked ok for both...
But i try to use 2.47 with Kess.

I think 2.23 is best choise to use both.

Ksuite 2.23 yes colaborate with KTAG 7.020 and Kess 5,017 but file "ksuite.exe" you must ADD to Firewall to BLOCK or switch OFF/disconnect internet, (works safe with) but when internet is ON they you cant do nothing in menu, all menu is GREY, all option is deactivated.. so can be little annoying.

In my opinion Ksuite 2.25 the best to KTAG 7.020 and Kess 2.47 to kess 5,017.. both works without any issue with internet ON/connected, no need nothing with firewal or something.

Mouser and Farnell told me after request by telephone, that they sell only to "buisness customers" :-/?

I dont want to order every part from different supplier because of the expensive shipping cost.

It used to have power led on with either usb connected or obd plugged in (or both) but now neither do anything and ksuite says no connection. I can't see anything obvious but I'm hoping there's a relatively simple fix, please help if you can.

As far as I remember, I haven't done anything that may cause problems like dropping it or starting the car with it connected. A very basic prod 'round with a multi meter shows 4.8v in from usb and to a couple of capacitors but 0v at the led (so, it's not just the led died)

I just order some components in Mexico to "Newark" witch i think belongs to Farnell, and i had no issues.
I was also surprised that they did not charged me for shipping and my order was less than 20usd.

I didn't heard anything like your's, but i would say that probably you will need to do the rework on the PCB.

You can try Mouser. I bought the main parts there for my rework and they sold 1 pcz of each.

Yes, i also looking Forward to order @ mouser. The parts for one rework are round about 27€. But there are many parts like "murata filters" and so on that you dont have to Change. My PCB Date is 04.01.2018 an there are many new parts which maybe dont have to be reworked. But if you order all neccesary parts to get safer you will be about 27€ at Mouser. The only part that they cant deliver is CSTCE8M00G15L99R0. Im looking Forward to get an alternative one or order the CSTCE8M00G15L99R0 at other shop.

Tryed with list from Boxsport, but they dont offer me parts that where similar to the one i Need, some parts which should be similar of voltage and so on had a bigger case and my should not fit on pcb.

My memory's terrible but the numbers mean things (theres a breakdown of what on datasheet)and it worked out that they didn't have CSTCE8M00G15L99R0 which was (plucking a number out of the air) max 15v but they did have one exactly the same spec but max 40v. Might not have been volts, could have been current or whatever but with a little bit of common sense you can find one that will work fine.

For a start, the R** at the end is just the packaging it comes in.

However, I did find this; 815-CR-8.00CELA-33-T

I didn't look for long though so there might be better, this says 6v dc max (I can't see a figure for the CSTCE8M00G15L99R0) but you'd do well to double check it doesn't get 12v when connected to the car before ordering.

everything looks the same to me except the height 0.7mm instead of 1.1mm but that might just be advances in manufacturing and materials I guess. Double check for yourself though.

What you're looking for, as far as I can tell;

8mhz ceramic resonator - surface mount
33uf
tolerance; 0.1% or less (frequency)
HxLxW = 1.1x3.2x1.3

I'm not convinced you need to worry much about it though, if the frequency and size are right and it's better quality than the original, I'd bet it'll be fine - if I'm honest though, I think I'd just leave that component rather than wasting much more time on it.

It doesn't supporto AC Delco e98 ECU, so i want to update the fw to 5.028. someone know how to Do It ? Or an alternative to tune Delco e98

For me the most reliable firmware for kess clone is 5.017, and since 2017, the e98 delco are locked with new protection, and only some genuine tools can handle this ecu.

hello there.
your PCB seems very similar to the one i got, and it already seems to have the murata filters...
the rework is a "safety procedure" to ensure that it works the best way possible, since its a clone from the original (or a clone, from a clone, from a clone, etc...).
You can use it the way it is, but the risk of failure will be bigger from a unit that it was reworked....

I don't have ktag ... I only have kess rework .. but looking at the ktag pictures there are other compotents that can be replaced ... if you send a high resolution photo of ktag I make the new list

Hi, I think you don't need to order NUP2105LT1G because your clone ever have these components. For the SD card I don't see why you want replace it, test it and report if it's better to invest in a higher model !

Yes, i also looking Forward to order @ mouser. The parts for one rework are round about 27€. But there are many parts like "murata filters" and so on that you dont have to Change. My PCB Date is 04.01.2018 an there are many new parts which maybe dont have to be reworked. But if you order all neccesary parts to get safer you will be about 27€ at Mouser. The only part that they cant deliver is CSTCE8M00G15L99R0. Im looking Forward to get an alternative one or order the CSTCE8M00G15L99R0 at other shop.

Many cars will work, but some cars won't work until you reworked it.

Wake up error, Some protocols won't work and some jobs are not stable. They will not start reading oder cancelling writing. If writing fails you can be screwed.

if you buy modified kess, you will have a 90% aliexpress kie, you should buy kess for just over $ 50 and buy components for $ 60 and do a complete job with the last photo I inserted

For the picture it seems that them main components were changed. so i would assume that the rework on it is Good.

Even if the board you get, comes with those components, you should ALLWAYS do the Rework to be sure the main components are OK...
Otherwise it will be a flip coin if it works good or not...
The one i bought came and it worked OK even when i didnt made the rework on it. and it seems to have the Originla components they claim...
But at the end i replaced them all just to be sure...

if you want to do the SD card using a better one, check this thread:

if what you want is some kess firmware updates, then it will depend on the version you have and the $$$ you can spend...

I think you can buy kess upgrade kit (nxp + sd card) so that you can upgrade to firmware 5.017.
Not sure if you need to do any rework on your pcb, but probably some more experienced users can help you out with these doubts...
You can find upgrade kit in AliExpress or probably someone here can sell with good quality SD card

maybe someone can help me? I bought a kess V2 5.017 clone from china. Worked good. one day i get on my Touareg EDC16CP14 Wake up error. After that i made the rework and also tried the solution with new good sd-card. But the issue is the same.

Speed minimum and Pull up resistance in options i tested.

tested on Mercedes A class with no problem.
tested on Golf 4 1.9tdi not work

In my opinion, being a clone you should always do the rework and for Kess/Ktag you should also make new SD cards using a Good SD Card

Murata filters is low frequency pass filter. Pass low frequency data line signals and attenuate high frequency spikes.
With murata high frequency noise immunity should be better, but in cars with not started engines there are no high frequency sources.
