    DM600 Second hand DM600 q's (in Brum)

    Hi all,

n00b to the DreamBox scene, and I have been given a DM600C. I have read (and read) up trying to find a definitive guide for the 600C, but all the ones I have found are written for the 500.

Can I use the same guides that are out there for the 500 on the 600? If not, can anybody point me in the right direction for doing a 600C from scratch?

A have gotten as far as DreamUp-ing the pli-jade-dm600pvr-20081001-5635.nfi image over to the box so far...

Also, whilst on the subject of FTPing , why is it excruciatingly slow when trying to access the 600C? I'm sure there must be a problem some where. I have tried re flashing the firmware, and re flashing the jade image, but FTP (and web) access is unusably slow. Has anybody come across this before?

    Thank you for any help,

    M.

      Hi Westkill,

I'm using FlashFXP. I've used it for many years, and it hasn't let me down yet...

Is it the firmware or the image that handles the FTP/web interface side of things do you know?

      Thanks.

i see you have the jade image on your box, which is the firmware which is every thing on your box all the menus ,settings etc
1.have you done a scan for the channels
2.have you got the keys and scce files to transfer to the box
3.you need a cam setup as well as your box is connected to the routerthee should ba an option to download it via the dreambox addons menu, the cams/emu,s are called evocamd and mgcamd you need the evocamd for your box

          Hi again,

I haven't scanned for the channels yet as I'm still looking for the keys and scce files and wasn't sure they had to be on the box first or not?

Also, does the software cam (evocamd) need installing before doing any of that?

Thanks for help, and sorry if the q's sound really dumb. Hopefully, if I can do it once then I'm sorted...

          Cheers.

Ahh, thanks. So both folders (keys and scee) go into the root of /usr/

I'll have a mess and post back.

Just a quickie before I scan, I gave me an option of the numbers to scan, which should I choose?

              Thanks.

I think it was TW. I moved here a few years ago, and I know it's either old C&W or TW and I'm fairly sure TW...

OK, the 2 options I have for automatic scanning are:

                      All(SR6900)
                      All(SR6875)

Not sure which one to select here...

I've searched the forum and Birminghams frequency seems to be 6952, but I'm not sure if I have to enter this manually?

                      Again, thanks for any help.

There are a couple of other options too which have crosses in them (I take it that means they are selected or ticked?)

Other then the options you mentioned I have it set to:

                          QAM-64
'Lock', has a cross by it (means selected?)
'Sync', has a cross by it (means selected?)
'Use ONIT', 'use BAT' and 'only FREE' are all blank

Are these the right settings working in conjunction with the others you have already mentioned?

                          Thanks again bud...

                              And you were spot on!

                              Thanks for that.

It's scanning on freq 00643 now...

Should I also scan on 00499 afterwards?

                              Cheers again.
