How to JTAG a DM500

Try another null modem cable, another version of Dreamup and another PC if same Jtag a new bootloader in then try Dreamup and null cable again.

I plug in other box's (4 off)and they connect straight away no probs, doubt it's the cable/pc. Also tried 3 differering versions of Dreamup.

What connection do you use on the 25 pin connection. One the link to build a simple jtag is states pins 2,3,4,5 and 13 and short pins 18to25.

On the downloaded guide it has pins 2,3,4,5 and 11. Plus short 18 to 25.

So is it 11 or 13 on the 25 pin dsub connector ?

the blimg file got to be in the same folder... just a tip... 1st find out how long is ur com delay... click connect without power up the box... u time how long the error msg appear... that will be the deay or lag due to your com... then now time yourself to powerup the box as of the same delay... i found out this is the best way. i alway get write by the third time.

My delay is almost instant. Pulling my haier out here trying to connect. Tried all different times but no joy. The green light flickers on box for a sec then ij get error messages...

What happened when you tried another PC (or didn't) like I asked you to in post #457 ????
A different PC with different processor speed will have different timings to syncronise with the bootloader program.
Also check your connections and wiring again.

Both, as nearly all new are clones now, if flashing clone don't use a Gemini Image, they Zap clones, and you will need Jtag again.

I have for about two months time now tried to get my clone box jtaged without any help. I only got connection once, but it was the wrong boot that came on. The cables are shortend to less 10 cm, tried jtag windows and the other one that runs from dos prompt.
I can sometimes get light in the box (red light) when trying to connect through dos prompt, but test always fails.

Not much hope left, hope someone can help me out here.

All I can suggest is double check all your connections, even resolder them all again or even make another Jtag cable up, then keep trying, you have done it once so you know what to do. If still failing try it on an older PC, a slower processor PC would be better and often helps with Jtag connection problems, todays PC's seem too fast.
May be worth having a read of post #463 in this thread by bilabonic re: switchon/timing sync etc.

Hi again

Finally it worked! Checked the soldered pins again and it seemed that there were one that wasnt good enough.

Couldnt get the jtag windows working and when trying the dos program with alps, it worked 1, 2 and 3 time....very nice!

Using a Intel Pentium Pro 1600MHZ.

How long do i have to wait after connecting the Dreambox to start the Programm?
