I am new to the forum. I did have Erovox which was great.
Just got a Dreambox DM500c. Theis first flash guide was great. No problem for beginner. Its the next stage which I am having probs with. I have downloaded a guide but am confused. I know I have to do initial flash with dreamUp. Then not sure do I use filezilla FTP or what. I have a null modem cable connected to DM500c and downloaded flash wizard pro. But it doesnt see box.

I got a PCMCI to Com port adaptor on ebay for couple of pounds. It works much better than usb to 9 pin remote cable

im glad your box is working . usually the usb to serial adaptor will be working fine and the real problem is the drivers .when you buy a usb to serial adaptor you have to download the drivers or they may come on a disk with the adaptor . the problem is that the drivers are incompatable with windows vista computers ,and they may not even work on some windows xp computers ,so the problem is more to do with the drivers being incompatable then the adaptor .but your box is now working and thats good so well done .

Can some nice person give me some advice on Dreambox.
I have dm500c connected to cable. I think I need an idiots guide. I know I have to flash the box using Dreamup. I have done this sucessfully. It's the next stage that confuses me.
What is the best method and files to use. I have the null modem cable and also lan cable and router.
Help. Please.

if the box is hanging (stuck) while trying to start up then id say your image (thats the tv software ) has become faulty or corrupt ,so i suggest you change the image thats what we call flashing . i assume its a dreambox (as this is a dreambox thread ) but what model dreambox have you got ? .

Hi, I manage to flash it but the box still having the flickering and distortion on some channel. I am using DM500C. What should I do. Thanks for your advise.

can you explain a little better what you mean by flickering and distortion on some channels ?, i assume some channels also work fine ?. as its a dm500c check that the cable tv cables and connections are not loose or damaged in any way . are you connected to some sort of server ? ,now we cant talk about that sort of thing on the open forum but if you are and you only have a few problem channels maybe its down to the server .

if you mean you cant download it from the DK download section that may because you havent made enough posts on the forum ,but you can download it from the last link in my signature area which is near the bottom of this post .

you can also flash a dm800 via web browser in just a few minutes .before you flash the box you need to know the sim and bootloader versions of your box and then find an image (this is the tv software) with the same sim and bootloader versions as the box .

Excellent post
I can not get passed
"Connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox!"
It is connected to Port6 using a null modem USB cable from ebay and has the drivers installed that came with it
can anyone advise if this could be the cable?
The Dreambox does not boot to the image when I have the cable plugged in

i have successfully flashed 2 500c but only have FTA channels, black screen on all others..any help on keys etc to resolve this?

I am in the same scenario as jedi... any help on keys?

Therer is no such thing guys. Read more and you will learn that these boxes went off years ago,
